Pediatric Surgery Awareness week.

Pediatric Surgical Awareness week is conducted by Department of Pediatric Surgery, Sri Ramachandra University every year in the month of September since 2013.

1st Awareness week on Pediatric Surgical conditions was conducted from 5th – 11th September 2013.

It was held under the auspice of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, as a National programme.
The awareness week was conducted at the ground floor of G Block OPD with the help of 18, B.Sc Nursing Students. Posters were made of the common Pediatric Surgical conditions which the general population should be aware off. The Nursing students under the guidance of The Faculty of Pediatric Surgery department prepared the self explanatory posters. All patients attending the G block OPD were counseled regarding the various conditions and asked to attend Pediatric Surgery OPD.
About 880 patients were counseled over 1 week, who took great interest on the topics and were handed over brochures related to the topic of their interest.
2 big Banners were displayed at the main entrance of SRMC and the G block OPD. Multiple small display board and posters were displayed at various areas to catch the attention of people, which made it more attractive and successful. A powerpoint presentation of the various Pediatric Surgical conditions were made and scrolled in the main lobby TV in the main block.
The awareness week concluded with a closing ceremony where the Dean of Medical College, Prof. Anandan, Medical Director Dr Damodaran , Staff of Pediatric Surgery Department were present. The Dean and Medical Director distributed certificate of participation to the B.Sc Nursing students, who took lot of pain and effort to make it a grand success. Dr Madhu, proposed the vote of thanks.
The department is obliged to the Dean of faculties, management, DTP center, photographer and faculty of Nursing for making this awareness week bring the Department to limelight and make the general public aware of the various Pediatric Surgical conditions.
We propose to have similar awareness week every year to continue making public aware of the various Pediatric Surgical conditions and guiding them properly.

The Department got the 3rd best Institution for Pediatric Awareness week at the IAPSCON Agra 2016.
