Pediatric Laparoscopy

Paediatric Laparoscopy is the art of performing minimally invasive surgery in children ranging from new born to adolescent age group. It involves performing basic procedures like diagnostic laparoscopy, undescended testis and advanced procedures like diaphragmatic hernia in new born to pull through for anorectal malformation and hirschsprung’s disease.

Presently Dr. Prakash Agarwal is working as Professor & Head of Paediatric Surgery at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai and Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at The Apollo hospital, Chennai. Over a decade he has been associated with over 5000 laparoscopic cases in Children. He has established himself as a Paediatric Laparoscopic Surgeon in the National arena and was the executive member of the Paediatric Endosurgeons group of India. He was the Hony. Secretary cum Treasurer of Paediatric Endosurgeons group of India. He has organized many National and International workshops and the 2^nd PESI meeting organized at SRMC was a runaway success. He has over 50 National and International publications with 4 books published to his credit. He is also a co-author of the popular Atlas on Laparoscopic Paediatric surgery. He is also the co-editor of IAPS Text book of Pediatric surgery.

An avid proponent of laparoscopic surgery in children, he has presented his work in the National and International arena for the last 25 years.
